"Summer Day at Seal Cove" 8x10 Oil on Copper panel. sold.
Today I made really great sandwiches for the ride to Acadia. Walnut and raisin bread, honey ham, and provolone, with mayonaise! Delicious! Orange thin cookies and Charleston chew for desert! By the time we arrived at Seal Cove I was ready to paint. I had forgotten my tripod and umbrella needed for my plein aire easel. So I found a granite rock by the street, put my easel box on my lap, and started to paint.
It seems as if each time I am out painting there is a photographer lately from a newspaper! Today I was told by a Lewiston, Maine newspaper it was my hat! Yesterday the New York Times photographer took close ups of my head and painting with the view in the background. I told the photographers about The Art Mentor being a very successful artist. Then they ran over to take photos of him too.
Here is a pretty lady wearing a dress walking on the beach where we were painting.
I have seen many paintings of ladies in dresses on the beach!
Today we worked hard! I struggled some with trying to use lots of broken color in my water. Eventually I think I somehow got a handle on it. The copper panel is so smooth. Painting on copper is tricky. With all of the broken color paint does accumulate. I found when I would place a new color down, I was picking up colors underneath. I liked this painting the best from all of the paintings completed this week. It has a Summery feeling to it! Maine is just amazing in the Summer! I think this has been the best Summer yet! I am very thankful to The Art Mentor for teaching me this Summer. I feel as if it is a opportunity of a lifetime. Thank you!
