June 18, 2013 Daisy Has Lymes Disease Again. Duke Is In Perfect Health!

Today I took both dogs to the vet.  I am so glad I did this.  Daisy tested

positive for Lymes Disease again.  In 2009 she was treated with antibiotics.  In

2010 her test revealed a decrease in Lymes Disease.  But today's test showed a

higher level of Lyme.  The vet decided to put her on another treatment of

antibiotics for a month.  She was so lame today she could not get up off the

scale.  She was pulling with her front paws.  I thought she may have

injured herself with us trying to get her onto the scale.  The vet went up

behind Daisy and lifted her up.  She walked out of the vet's office.  He

also prescribed medicine for arthritis.  I purchased sea jerky which has

sea cucumber extract to help with joins.  He also said to give them an adult

dose of fish oil.  Duke's blood work was fine.

The vet was really impressed at how heathy Duke was.  Duke hopped up and down

to greet the vet.  He gobbled up dried liver treat.  He leaped onto the scale.  He held

still for the vet.  He sat down after the blood was drawn.  The vet said it was because

Duke knew he was going to take his temperature next.  Duke is smart.

The horn growing on Daisy's head was just a wart.  She has some harmless fatty

tumors common in older dogs.  Daisy started to feel so much better after I gave her

her pain medicines and antibiotics and sea jerky!  She was wagging her tail for a few

hours.  Duke had pain medicines too and sea jerky.  He was walking around wagging

his tail too.  I bet Daisy will be a lot less lame with antibiotic treatment for the Lymes

Disease.

Duke greeted Robert with one of his large black bear dog toys.  Daisy loves to lounge

on her theraputic dog bed under the table.

I framed 22 oil paintings today for the Bar Harbor Art Show Saturday

and Sunday!  Come out to the center of Bar Harbor where there will be 20

0r 30 artists and photographers displaying their work outside!  This is an

exciting show to see.  I hope to paint outside somewhere tomorrow!  Let's Paint!

June 17, 2013 Daisy and Duke Are Going To The Vet Tomorrow For a Checkup!

I gave Daisy and Duke each a rawhide bone today.  Daisy ended up with

both bones.  What an injustice!  Robert came home and noticed Duke sad

face.  So we gave them both a Frosty Paw doggy ice cream to celebrate a

painting sale recently.  We took Duke's bone away from Daisy.  Then we

gave Duke his rawhide bone after he finished his Frosty Paws!  Duke

was pleased.

Duke and Daisy are going to the vet tomorrow for a check up.  The vet always draws

blood and tests for heart worms and lymes disease.  I am going to ask the vet about medicine

to help with arthritis.  Daisy is going to get her nails trimmed!  She dislikes to have this done.

I have asked for two different appointments so I will be driving one home and picking up another.

I can only handle one dog at a time!  They are large golden retrievers.  I hope it goes well.

Here is a beautiful apple tree on Monhegan Island!  Have a great night.

June 16, 2013 Monhegan Island Painting Trip Reflections and Photos!

Today I was locating paintings, varnishing dry oil paintings, unpacking an enormous frame order,

finding coordinating frames for paintings, unpacking from my trip, and playing with Daisy and Duke!

I was reflecting on my Monhegan painting trip.  Here are a few things I might change next time:

1.  I would bring the baby jogger that has 16 inch galvanized tires.  I brought my home depot construction

worker box with wheels.  It was difficult to manuver over all the rocks and sand on the roads.  The baby

jogger has worked best in the past.  I just didn't get it into the car.

2.  Bring a few gallons of drinking water.  They do have bottled beverages in the store.  It would be best to

carry along a gallon of water.  I would store it in the baby jogger.  I remember strolling with ease with

a lot of painting equipment and gallon jug of water a few years ago.

3.  Bring a heating blanket with long extention cord.  I would tell the Trailing Yew about using a heating

blanket and offer to pay a few extra dollars for the electric.  It was cold.

4.  Bring a wool hat, better coat, wool under clothing, and heat packs.  It was 88 degrees in Bucksport before

I left.  I did bring two wool sweaters and a jacket.  It just wasn't enough.  Hard to be in 40-50 degree temps

without a heater for days.

Great things about painting on Monhegan island:

1.  Monhegan Island is full of painting inspiration.  The island is a jewel.  Sometimes I would find myself

looking where Frederick Waugh may have painted.  The Wyeths painted on Monhegan.  You

never know who you might meet.  Many successful painters travel to Monhegan to paint.  I didn't see

very many painters working.  The season doesn't start until July.  I do think June is a great time to

paint.

I would stay at the Trailing Yew on Monhegan.  They make a great breakfast and dinner.

I met many nice people during these meals.  People sit at the same table.  They introduce

themselves.  Conversations are very interesting.  I did meet a few couples interested in my

work.  Some artists stay in cottages.  I think there are many advantages in staying at the

Trailing Yew.  Many artists stay here at this hotel.

I am getting geared up for my only outdoor art show this year.  The location for this show is

in Bar Harbor, Saturday and Sunday.  There will be a few other artists there as well.  So

if you are near by, come out to say hello!  Have a wonderful night!

Here is Duke hopping up to take the Frosty Paws doggy ice cream.  Daisy was on the other side.  They

say thank you for the painting sales!  They howl for their treat.

June 15, 2013 Amazing Day Leaving Monhegan Island. Home Again!

I was on my last hike to the Monhegan wharf when I snapped this shot of Tom, a 93 year

old man, who stayed here with his wife for the month of June, for many years.  I was invited

into their cottage one year.  I could still smell faint sardine odors when this was used as a fish

shack.  They were both such wonderful people.  Residents of Monhegan have been very kind to

these people.  They really are fond of them.

Tom and his wife were helped on to the ferry.  Another artist and I gave up our seats

so they could be comfortable upstairs.  The whole town of Monhegan came out to see them

go.  A lady played the accordian while our ferry moved away from the dock.  Many people had

given Tom flowers they had picked on the island.  They have a tradition if you toss these

flowers into the water behind the ferry, the flowers drift back to the island, then you will

return to Monhegan.  People stayed at the wharf waving.  It was beautiful.  I hope Tom

and his wife can return next June.

It is difficult to come to Monhegan Island only once.  People who visit Monhegan always

return.  Paintings of Monhegan can be seen in galleries all around the world.  Monhegan is

where all the plein air painters come to paint images great artists have painted before them.

Almost any painting here on Monhegan has historical content.

Some artists try to find some place on Monhegan where no other painter has painted.  They

don't like to have their work compared to another artist's work.  Other artists paint the same

locations just allowing their own style of painting to create a fresh image.  I personally love

to see the different styles and compositions.

   Seals sunbathing today.

   Marshall Light in Port Clyde.

Daisy and Duke and Robert were happy to see me.  Robert has smoked fresh wild Salmon!

Duke howled right away.  He wanted a Frosty Paw dog ice cream to celebrate a painting sale.

Daisy too.

Daisy was very lady like today enjoying her treat.

Family trip to Lake Alamoosook today!

Everyone had a great time!  Duke really searched for fish to catch.  Daisy swam a lot.

Robert and I love to watch them splash around.  The lake is beautiful and relaxing.

Wonderful to paint on Monhegan.  I am happy to be home.

"Monhegan Wild White Rose" 7x5 oil on copper.  350$ framed in gold. shipped.

Here I am working hard today again at the Trailing Yew.  I didn't have to walk far to find

inspiration today.  I should be heading home tomorrow to Bucksport, Maine.  I bet the sun will

be out.  Today the sun was out while I painted the wild white roses.  It was a wonderful time

to paint the sun on the flowers.  Tonight for dinner, chicken marsala and homemade blueberry

pie.  Bean soup, and salad, green beens, and pasta.  I am looking forward to returning home.

I have worked very hard.  I am proud of the work I have completed.  I know working intensely

will make me a better painter.  There are no short cuts to success.  Have a great night!

June 13, I Painted On Top of Burnt Head on Monhegan Island Today! Photos. Sold One!

"White Head" 7x5 oil on copper.  350$ framed in gold, shipped.

Today was a challenging day painting on Burnt Head.

When I finally arrived I had to sit a spell to recuperate.

Somedays I ask myself, "Now why did I do that?"  It is a wonderful challenge.

It is good for a painter to get exercise.  We stand still most of the day.  Soon we

can't even walk a block if we had too!  Once there on location, there is really

only one view to paint.  Most artists who are physically capable of doing the

half a hour strenuous hike paint at this spot.  White Head is the tallest cliffs

in Maine.  Few tourists make it up here to enjoy this view.  I decided to sit down

to paint.  This position lasted only a few hours as rocks are extremely hard!

"Apple Blossoms and Wild Roses at White Head" 10x10 oil on copper not finished just yet.

Here is my first painting of the day.  I need to work more on this one.  I hiked back to the

Trailing Yew after I painted it just to make sure it would be safe.  There were apple trees

and wild roses bushes there.  But they were not blooming.  I decided the landscape might

be improved if there were flowers to smell while looking at the sea.

Here is where I painted today.  At the edge of my tennis shoes, all muddy I might add, is a

huge drop off.  What a beautiful day at my office!

Noon time always brings diamonds dancing on the sea.  Dinner bell!

Fantastic turkey dinner with carrot cake for desert.  I think I deserved this

dinner today.

I have really enjoyed my Monhegan painting trip!

I am starting to miss home.  Daisy and Duke are doing fine.  Robert was going to purchase

more doggy Frosty Paws for them.

Weather has been gray and cold this week.  I have still been productive.  I hope you

have a wonderful night.  Here is a painting I sold off my website last night.  Thank you!

"Monhegan's Church's Purple Iris" 7x5 oil on copper.  Sold.

June12, 2013 Sunset Painting on Monhegan Island. Some Things I Learned While Here Painting!

"Good Night Monhegan" 7x5 oil on copper.  350$ framed in gold and shipped.

Yesterday it was 50 degrees inside the Trailing Yew.  I wore 5 layers and

then put 6 blankets on top of me to get warm.  I still couldn't get warmed up.

I couldn't paint.  Oh well.  This gave me an opportunity to think about all

the things I have discovered while I have been on Monhegan Island.  Some of

these things I have learned from other artists.  Some of these things I have learned

by observation.

If you hold up your hand in front of you so your palm is in shadow, the value of your

palm is a value of 5.  You can compare your palm with the landscape in front of you.

I discovered if you are trying to do a little destroying of the painting to rid the painting

of details or to create more emotion, make sure the painting is dry first before applying wet

paint.  If things don't go well in the destroying mode, then you can wipe off the oil paint,

still have a dried image underneath, and try again!  Seems as if less destroying is better

than a lot of destroying.

Plein air painting is an extremely physical job.  Eating the right foods makes all the

difference with productivity.  Too much donuts and muffins takes too much energy

to digest causing the artist to feel foggy.

Spend more time planning the painting, thinking about the painting, and drawing before

starting the painting. Just because you are in a beautiful place and are excited, stop

yourself and think before you paint.  More details takes away from the emotion of the painting.

Paint shapes and not the details.  If you get the shapes right people can figure out what you are

painting.  If you paint a lot of details it is difficult for the viewer.  Highlights are different

colors.  If you can't figure out what color the highlight is, look at objects around the highlight

to see what is influencing the highlight's color.  Lastly!  When painting interior paintings, the

inside of the building in the painting will be mostly warm colors.  The window will be cool colors and

very light.  There is a light blue glow from the window diffusing all the edges so they are mostly soft.

It is freezing cold here on Monhegan to me the Floridian!  It is also raining off and on so

plein air painting is out!  I am wearing almost all of my clothes 24 hours a day!  I feel too

cold to be productive.  So I must take to the blankets again!  Darn!  Have a great night!  Let's paint.

June 10, 2013 Three New Paintings Done On Monhegan Island! Photos of the Golden Hour!

"Chickens of Monhegan Island" 5x7 oil on copper.  450$ framed in gold and shipped free.

I had a blast painting these chickens on location today.  They were moving all over the place.  But

I have studied chickens for a long time and can painting them while they are moving!  A lot of kids from

a school trip came over.  They said I was great!  They took my photo.  I gave them a postcard with the

copper information and a painting on it.  One kid said he would buy the postcard from the other kid.  The

whole experience made me feel like a rockstar just for the day!

 '

Here is a close up shot.

"Clean Again" 5x7 oil on copper.  350$ framed in gold wood.  Shipped free.

"Purple Iris at Monhegan's Church" 7x5 oil on copper.  Framed in gold and shipped.  350$

I worked very hard again today.  Here are a few photos of Monhegan Island.  I am avoiding

the donuts and muffins staying with hard boiled eggs, sausage or bacon.  I seem to have a tremendous

amount of energy by avoiding donuts and muffins.  It must take a lot of energy to break those

down.  Too be avoided!

It is suppose to be raining for a few days.  I guess I will be painting under a porch or inside!

Have a wonderful night!

June 9, 2013 Three New Monhegan Seascapes!

"Golden Hour on Monhegan" 5x7 oil on copper.  350$ framed in gold.  Shipped.

I started this painting last night before sunset.  Today I worked more until it was finished.  I

didn't set up the equipment infront of the scene.  I just used my visual memory to complete the painting.

"Manana Blues" 5x7 oil on copper.  350$ framed in gold and shipped!

I went this morning to Jamie Wyeth's house.  There are great views from his land.

I painted Manana Island.  I admired all the clouds.  One cloud over Manana

Island looked like a heart.  I also admired all the white waves crashing on rocks.  There were

very beautiful colors.  I used little foreground waves to allow the eye to use them as stepping

stones to arrive on Manana island!

"After The Storm" 5x7 oil on copper.  Framed in gold and shipped free.

I painted this view this morning until afternoon.  The view is of the harbor between Manana

Island and Monhegan.  The waves were crashing. Fun to paint waves!

Here is Jamie Wyeth's house.  Pretty bright green door on the side.

What an amazing transformation the landscape today!

This is the shoreline in Jamie Wyeth's backyard!  Local people have a name for it.  I think

the name is the water spout.  Have a wonderful night!  I will be here on Monhegan till

Saturday afternoon!  Let's paint!

June 8, 2013 Another Claw Footed Bathtub Painting Done at The Trailing Yew!

"Have My Bath and Paint It Too" 10x10 oil on copper.  650$ framed in gold wood.  shipped.

Last night I took to my bed after dinner just to keep warm!  I thought about what I would

paint the next day.  I knew it would be storming.  I knew it would be cold!  So I decided I would

paint inside the bathroom here at the Trailing Yew Inn.  I decided I would take my hat, shoes,

and clothes into the bathroom as props to add more color and to create a bit of a story.

So here I am set up in the bathroom working hard!  I have a bit of a wacky personality.

I like to have clean fun.

   What fun!

This morning Schooner, the wonder dog of Monhegan, appeared all wet using telephathic

capabilies to tell me he wanted bacon!

Here is Schooner with a bacon stuffed blue berry muffin!

Here is the view of Monhegan from the porch of the Trailing Yew.  Raining!

I have decided to extend my Monhegan painting adventure to a few more days beyond

the week already planned!  Have a wonderful night!  Let's paint!

June 7, 2013 I Painted The Trailing Yew's Antique Bath Tub!

"Monhegan Bath" 10x10 oil on copper.  650$ framed in gold wood.  Shipped free.

I painted at Fish Beach in the morning, became cold, so I decided to paint in the Trailing

Yew's bathroom.  The hot water from the tub heated up the whole bathroom!  I have the hotel

all to myself...a rare honor.  I spent all day in here with the door locked.

Luckily the bathroom is large and spotless!  The water here on Monhegan

is rusty.

When I was finished painting, I took the painting downstairs for further evaluation.

The light under the front porch was brighter so I made some slight changes.  What fun!  What

a challenge.  I was thinking this would look great in my bathroom!

Here is a closer detail of the painting.

Schooner, the famous Monhegan island dog paid me a visit last night after dinner.  He

could smell turkey, dressing, cranberry sauce, and ginger cake.  I had nothing for him so

he moved on fast.  Nice to visit.

I worked on this painting early this morning.  It was so cold painting by the water.  I will

work on a few last touches later.

   Very overcast today.

Irises from yesterday!  Have a wonderful night!  Daisy and Duke are enjoying lots of

treats and walks with Robert.  Let's paint!  Oh yeah...I sold two paintings after dinner last

night!  So lucky!  Thank you!

June 6, 2013 Three New Monhegan Island Paintings! Beautiful Here!

"Lobster Cove" 5x7 oil on copper.  350$ framed in gold wood.  Shipped.  SOld!  Thanks!

Today I ate too much homemade donuts and blueberry muffins, fresh farm

scrambled eggs and crispy bacon.  After breakfast I felt like taking a nap.  I sat

on the front porch of the Trailing Yew Inn slightly disgusted with myself.  I decided

to hike with only my painting palette, three brushes, a few paper towel, two cameras,

and a sanded copper panel.  I guerrilla taped the copper panel to the lid of the masterson

painting palette. I hiked to Lobster Cove.  I sat down and painted this scene.  Then I hiked

back to the Trailing Yew, carried my painting upstairs, reloaded my palette, cleaned my

paint brushes, drank water, and hiked up to White Head.

"Spruce at White Head" 5x7 oil on copper.  350$ framed in gold wood.  Shipped free.

It is a very long hike up to White Head.  Many painters before me have painted this iconic

view of Monhegan.  I couldn't believe I had made it up there to paint!  I decided to paint

all the different Spruce trees there.  I noticed a few yellow flowers so I painted them in.  I

even tried to paint the little nuiances on the ground.  Trails here on Monhegan are rugged.

I hiked back to the Trailing Yew again, dropped of painting, reloaded, drank water, and hiked

up another large hill past the Novelty Shop.  I was ready to paint one more painting!

"Lilac Time at Monhegan" 5x7 oil on copper.  350$ framed in gold and shipped.

Maybe it is a great idea to eat so much for breakfast.  Here is a challenging scene I

think I pulled off.  I don't think I would not have attempted this any other past year.

Bring on the chocolate homemade donuts!

Looking back down the road past the Novelty shop.  Funny how photos don't show down

hill very well.  Manana island is in the distance.

Here is the center of Monhegan's town.  The Island Inn is the building with the cupola.

I am waiting for dinner.  The waitress will come out of the kitchen and ring a bell soon.  I can

see goats walking on Manana Island from my room.  Tonight they are serving turkey and fish!

I hope you have a wonderful night!  Let's paint!

June 5, 2013 Two New Monhegan Island Paintings! Photos!

"Monhegan" 5x7 oil on copper.  350$ framed in gold wood.  Shipped free. Sold!  Thanks!

I pulled my cart full of painting equipment to Fish Beach on Monhegan Island after

breakfast!  Breakfast was great.   I had homemade chocolate donuts, scrambled eggs, sausage,

banana nut muffins, coffee, and cranberry juice.  I sat at Fish Beach for an hour trying to decided

what to paint.  I thought it would be fun to see how many houses I could paint in this 5x7 painting.

I added some seaglass to the beach.

"Monhegan Laundry" 5x7 oil on copper.  350$ framed in gold wood.  Shipped free.

I painted this painting at the Trailing Yew Inn.  They always have the most interesting

laundry.  The light on the laundry is what made me paint it.  The bright green grass was

reflecting up into the laundry.  It was challenging playing down the background and getting

the light right.

Now I have worked up an appetite.  I think I will walk down to get some clam chowder.

Then I may paint some more or go hiking.  Lots to do here!  Hope you liked the paintings today.

Have a great night!  Daisy and Duke are doing great at home.  Let's paint!

June 4, 2013 Monhegan Island Photos!

I drove to Port Clyde, Maine this early morning to catch the Monhegan Ferry.

I am staying at the Trailing Yew Inn.  There are only three guests, including myself!

The seals on shore on the way to Monhegan!

Here is swim beach where the famous red house is located.  In the distance is Manana Island!

Here is the view from my room!

   One of my favorite views!

I found one pink lady slipper in Cathedral Woods today!

I hiked up to White Head to watch seagulls nesting.  This may be the same seagull I have

painted a few times sitting on her nest.  There is a perfect spot among the rocks for a nest.

Have a great night!  Tomorrow I hope to be painting Monhegan Island and sharing more

photos!  Let's Paint!

June 2, 2013 Purple Irises Painting! Going To Monhegan To Paint For A Week! Sold One!

"The Purple Irises" 10x10 oil on copper.  650$ Framed in gold wood.  Shipped free.

I drove to Mount Desert Island to paint.  I headed to a garden there to see if there were flowers!  Yes there was!

I really liked the Irises.  I sat down low to the ground so I could study them eye to eye!  I was almost finished with

the painting when a cat come over.  He sat in the bushes and posed for me!  He was cute.

He stayed there for a long time just like this!

   I love animals.

Here I am today painting the Irises.  I painted the flowers first.  I drew them in dark

purple paint first and studied the cools and warms of each Iris.  What a privilege to be able

to paint them from life!  I just love to paint flowers when they are right in front of me.

Each Iris is so very different.  Where there are white highlights in the photo there are

really oranges and light yellows and pink!  So that is one of the reasons I love to paint right there.

If you look closely you will see hints of blue!  Those are Lupines!

Daisy and Duke enjoyed the lake today!  I am headed to Monhegan Island tomorrow!  I hope

to stay at the Trailing Yew for a week and paint!  I will be posting photos and paintings!  This should

be fun!  Let's Paint!  Just sold "Duke's Fishing Spot"!  Thank you so much!

June 1, 2013 Painting at Lake Alamoosook! Beautiful Summer Day at The Lake!

"Duke's Fishing Spot" 3x4 oil on copper.  200$ Framed in gold wood.  Shipped free.

Here is where Duke caught his 12 inch Alewive fish the other day.  He hasn't caught any

other fish.  It was a great way to spend a 88 degree Summer day here in Maine!  The ice cold water

gave a little relief from the heat. I drove to the lake just to paint today.  Robert brought

the pups a little while later.  They ran right past me to the lake!

Since Robert was there too there seemed to be a more festive mood among us all.

Duke and Daisy were fetching sticks Robert threw into the lake!

I like this one of us!  We have a lot of relaxing moments at this lake.

Here is one of my favorite Birch trees by Lake Alamoosook!  I painted this tree in snow.

Here the is Oak tree I painted this Winter!  Have a wonderful night!  I am going to paint now!

"Monhegan Artist" 2.25 x 3.25 oil on copper (miniature) sold!

"At Botany Bay" 5x7 oil on copper.  Sold!  Thank you.

Here is a tiny 2.5 x 3.5 pen and ink drawing of Robert.  I gave this to my sister in law. She

liked it very much.

Daisy was in the pool before there was any water in it.  She was very photogenic today!

We decided Daisy and Duke would have a raw hide bone instead of a Frosty Paws doggy

ice cream today.

Duke took his bone (to the right) and was pushing dirt over it with his nose.

Daisy uncovered Duke's buried bone very fast.  We all laughed!  Here she has both bones.

Ah poor Duke is the victim.  Such sad eyes.  He has no bone.  His Daisy took his

bone away.  This has been going on for 13 years Duke.  Daisy will start on the bone.  She gets

tired of it.  Duke takes that bone.  Daisy comes back to discover it is gone.  So Daisy starts on

the new bone.  Soon both dogs are chewing on bones.  What a funny game they have played.

"Good Night Jordon's Pond" 2.5 x 3.5  oil on copper 200$ framed and shipped!

I found this little miniature painting from 2008 in a box in the chest of drawers today.

"Apple Blossoms In Mason Jar" 5x7 pen and ink with gouache.  Gifted to a very

valuable art client.

We found Daisy's glow in the dark ball under a stack of paintings in the gallery.  She was so

excited.  I have bought 50 of these glow in the dark balls since she was a tiny puppy.

Since Duke came to my house as a puppy when Daisy was about five months old, Daisy

always had possession on the glow in the dark ball!  Duke respected the ball.  He was allowed

to play with her other toys.  The black bear is always Dukes!

   Beautiful white lilacs are everywhere.

   Purple lilacs are everywhere too!

Duke enjoying his Frosty Paws doggy ice cream to celebrate a painting sale!

   Daisy is a tiger!

Another cute photo of Daisy in her kiddy pool!  Have a great night!  I am going to be able to paint

again soon!

May 28, 2013 Found Some Lost Paintings! Sold Many! A Bee Swarm! Incredible.

"Cypress and Irises" 6x9 oil on Aluminum!  (My only one) Sold!

I received an email from an art client,  He was wondering if I still had this painting.  He saw it from reading

the blog.  I searched for a long time in my house.  I called my Mom in Florida to ask her to look too.

I was looking through a chest in the gallery under many watercolors when I found it!  I picked it up

to discover many other copper paintings under it!  What a find!  I photographed them, put them

on the website, and BAMB!  Sold a few of them within a few moments.  I am lucky.

"Yellow Irises" 6x12 oil on copper.  Sold.  Here is a painting I found today!  Thank you!

The painting was done years ago during a Callaway Garden Plein air event.

"Seagulls at Fishbeach" 3x4 oil on copper.  Sold today.  This was a plein air painting done on Monhegan

Island a few years ago. Oh I am so thankful.

"Under The Moon" 2.5 x 7 oil on copper.  Sold too, although it was not lost.

"Captain's Ziggy Boat" 6x6 oil on copper.  Sold in my Lammers Gallery this morning! Thanks!  I

painted this one in Negril, Jamaica.  It is nice to know I can still sell Jamaica paintings after

I am in Maine.  I would love to visit Negril, Jamaica again someday.  I want to see my Jamaican

artist friend and bring him some canvas and acrylic paintings.

We were sitting in the sun on our backyard

deck when bees started to swarm!  I have never seen anything like it!  It was extraordinary!

If you look careful you will see the bees swarming all over our acre yard!

Bees appear dark in the blue sky areas but yellow in the tree line areas as the sun has

highlighted them.

Those little specks are bees!  It was amazing to hear

them buzz!  They moved all together in a swirling motion and left!  I hope

they come back.  We still have a lot of bees.

After a bee swarm is a great time for Daisy and Duke to have their Frosty Paws.

Here is my sweet Daisy enjoying her kiddy pool yesterday.  Nothing sweeter than seeing

an elderly golden retriever in her pool!  Have a wonderful night!  Thanks for the sales!  Yippee!

May 27, 2013 Daisy and Duke Learn To Paint! Woke Up To Gallery Sales!

At first every student learns to paint by watching an artist do a demo.  Here Duke surprised

me with his keen interest.  We were using watermelon kool aid again today.

Daisy came to watch too.  She snatched the brush from my hands.

The lesson was cut short because of brush mutilation.  I think it is best to keep painting

lessons brief at first anyway.  Daisy learned to have respect for the brush today.  She

felt bad about chewing it up.  She thought there were more brushes.  She was embarrassed.

I let her have one lick of watermelon kool aid.  She felt better.  She is eager to learn more

tomorrow.

Each Spring I bring out a kiddy pool.  We fill it up with water.  Daisy usually loves

to lay down in the pool.  Today she was just watching the water.  It took her a few minutes

to get into the pool this year.

I really think she got into the pool today just to make me happy.  I really enjoyed

seeing her in the pool.  I can remember when she was just 8 weeks old laying in her

kiddy pool.  Sometimes I would come home to find her laying in her kiddy pool with her

chin resting on the side and her eyes would be closed.

We all sat outside in the backyard today.  The sun was out.  It was a whimsical day.

   Here is a family portrait!

Edith, Robert's sister, is in a beekeeper's outfit on the left.  Robert added another hive body

to a growing hive.  All the bees were buzzing around them!

It was so nice outside Daisy and Duke had their Frosty Paws doggy icecream there!

Lilacs are blooming here in Maine!

I woke up to find Robert was showing art clients my paintings in the gallery.  They selected three

very quickly.  I also sold another on off my website last night.  If you would like to see what is available,

look up under the painting heading.  If you click on the painting's image you will find the price, buy it

now button, a story about the painting.  You can see all my available works from the privacy of your

own home!  Shipping is free.  What a wonderful way to end a Memorial Day Weekend.  I appreciate all

of the hard work and sacrifices all veterans contributed.  Thank you!  Good Night!
